No databases showing in Desktop2, MacOS
roger.gordon@ithinking.co.uk
Just have Databases (0) from the Local instances tab. Running on MacOS. Version Version 2.1.1 (2.1.1). Databases created with 2025-09
NB: the Data directory is on an external drive, but I think this is a Desktop2 issue since neo4j-admin will back up all DBs and I can connect to all 3 of them (system, default neo4j and one more for testing)
I'm also unable to upgrade the databases from 2025-09, and I will create a separate issue. Let me know if there's a file I can send along to help fix this.
Thanks!

it also hangs Desktop2, although the instance keeps running

Ahah 2 of the 3 databases now show - it happened after I renamed the original installation data directory (I use an external drive) back from data-old. So it is not using the neo4j.conf file and is simply looking for a directory.
Perhaps much clearer if the variable for redirecting wasn't in theneo4j. conf file to begin with?
Have been directed to look at https://neo4j.com/docs/desktop/current/installation/#_custom_data_path and thus https://neo4j.com/docs/desktop/current/operations/instance-management/#_data_path -- will report back in case this has been troubling other people (could just be me).....
