Migrate from AuraDB 4 to 5
in progress
kave@uw.edu
Hi Paul Blewett, thanks for your responses, though, I'm not sure how creating custom endpoints satisfies the need to keep the
exact same
Connection URI currently used in our AuraDB 4 instance. Correct me if I'm missing something, but this is how I'm seeing it...I currently have this Connection URI for our AuraDB v4 instance: neo4j+s://abc123.databases.neo4j.io. The connection strings uses "databases" in the string. Let's say I clone/migrate this AuraDB v4 instance to v5, it's going to be given a new Connection URI, this breaks all my current connections (major bummer/deal breaker). You're saying I can create a custom endpoint, BUT the url for the custom endpoint will look like this: neo4j+s://abc123.endpoints.neo4j.io. This 'custom' connection string uses "endpoints" not "databases" in its url. This still breaks all my connections, right? So how is this a solution to this issue? Do you have an actual solution in the works?
Time is running out! Your database users are supposed to migrate the end of this coming November, but you still don't have a solution for this issue?

Any update on this? Dates?
Paul Blewett
Nathan Shepherd: we have made good progress on this work, and we plan to release the improve tools within weeks. I'll also let you know directly when these are available. Thanks

Paul Blewett
Hi, thanks for the question.
In addition to the recently released Migration Readiness report (https://neo4j-aura.canny.io/changelog/auradb-v4-to-newest-v5-migration-readiness-available) and the existing Migration Guide (https://neo4j.com/docs/aura/tutorials/upgrade/), we are currently developing in-product tools to further support the migration process and make upgrading smoother.
We'll have updates to share with you very soon.
Thank you for your patience!
Paul Blewett
Nathan Shepherd kave@uw.edu- we've released a new feature today called custom endpoints: https://neo4j-aura.canny.io/changelog/custom-endpoints, it will also be integrated into improved migration tooling and guidance coming very soon!
Please let me know once you've tried it out!
kave@uw.edu
Paul Blewett This is great to hear Paul, thanks. Yes looking forward to trying it out once documentation/guidance is established.

Paul Blewett has the "improved migration tooling and guidance" been released? We've been playing around with the custom endpoints, but just curious about what you have mentioned here.
Paul Blewett
Nathan Shepherd: sorry for the delay, yes, https://neo4j.com/docs/aura/managing-instances/migration-readiness/ we've also recently added the ability to migrate to block format as part of the migration tooling.
Thanks
